About the Artist/Fabricator: Daniel McQuality

There is just something about WWII aircraft! I don't know what it is...I can't explain it. All I can say is that they touch me at a visceral level!

Maybe it is genetic for guys like me? I think of what my Grandfather, SSGT. Robert McQuality, went through as a waist gunner on the B-17 "Vibrant Virgin" with the 385th BG. In Oct. of '43, he bailed out over Germany as his plane was destroyed by flak and he spent the rest of the war in Stalag 17 B. Did the grandeur of those experiences somehow imprint on my father (who also is a plane nut), and then pass on to me? There is a consuming connection to Warbirds in my life that I just cannot explain. But maybe if you are here, reading on this nose art website, you know exactly what I am talking about.

Simply put, Nose Art reconnects us to those planes and to the guys who fought in them and kept them going. They were true works of art on planes that were works of art themselves, and that artwork connected them to what they held precious and what they were fighting for.

Nose art is my passion...I love to paint! I had one art lesson when I was about 6 years old, but besides that, I am self-taught (and still learning!). When in the Army, I was commissioned to paint a mural on our base at Camp Stanley, Korea. During the Gulf War, I painted all the nose art on the armored vehicles of my squadron in the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Today, using both airbrush and brush techniques, I apply my art to making reproduction nose art panels, painting nose art on airplanes, hot rods, and kustoms, leather jackets, leather unit patches, t-shirt design, and general pencil and ink artwork. I can paint, draw, and design pretty much anything.

Search through my my website and see what I have presently made up for sale. And if you would like a custom artwork done, drop me an email.

Cheers,
Dan McQuality
