Dodge'n Flak- 1947 Dodge "Warbird" Truck
Divider

The 1947 Dodge Warbird truck, Dodge'n Flak, was built by Bob McQuality and is dedicated to the memory of WWII POW Tech Sgt Robert E. McQuality, the 8th Army Air Corp, the 385th bomb group, and to the service of all veterans and POW's who fought in all American wars. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. God Bless.

This 1947 Dodge truck started out originally as a grain truck. Now it looks like a warbird on four wheels. Dodge 'n Flak was built from scratch by Bob McQuality to honor his father, the late Robert E. McQuality, a B-17 gunner in World War II and a prisoner of war in Stalag 17. Original warbird parts are located all over the vehicle. The dashboard was created from a C-45 instrument panel, the rest of the cab fitted with a collection of various parts from other planes, including a B-17 Flying Fortress bombardier's seat. It even has running boards that originally were propellers from a couple of different World War II aircraft, including one propeller complete with a bullet hole. The nose cones on the truck's bed are naval aviation issue, adorned with the fighter and bomb logos of the 8th Air Force, while under the bed sides are a pair of 100-pound practice bombs. The turret in the bed houses a Browning .30-caliber machine gun. Residing on the front fenders are Elanore and Fanny, creations of Bob McQuality's son, Dan McQuality. Speakers are hidden throughout the truck and special audio effects reproduce the sounds of a bomber being started for takeoff. "All gave some. Some gave all," proclaims a sign painted on the truck.
